Wind power has become a (main) force in China's new energy development as the country is ranked fourth globally in the installed (capacity) of wind power.
The National Development and Reform Commission (recently) approved the project for a 10-million kilowatt wind power base at Jiuquan City, northwest China's Gansu Province.
Tian Shicun is (vice) general manager with China Longyuan Electric Power Group.
"In the world, the number of wind power bases with installed capacity of more than one million kilowatts is (relatively) small. The wind power base to be built in Jiuquan marks a big step forward in developing renewable energy."
Since the 1970s, China (has) studied and ushered in wind power technology from foreign countries. Now the country is beginning to develop wind turbines (independently).
Insiders estimate that China's total installed capacity of wind power will (reach) at least 100 million kilowatts in 10 years. The number is five times (as much as) China's largest hydropower project at the Three Gorges.
Question)
1. How important is the wind power to the humen being ?
2. How does the energy problem endanger our global village ?
