1. The Power ball lottery jackpot (reaching) well over 500 million dollars is expected to split three ways. Winning tickets were sold in North Carolina, Texas and Porto Rico.
2. Veteran CBS News (correspondent) Bob Simon was killed in a car crash in New York City on Wednesday night. The 73-year-old Simon had won (multiple) awards over the years and covered major events dating back to the Vietnam War.
3. Oregon governor John Kitzhaber now says he won't resign days after (reportedly) telling some of his aids that he plans to leave office. The governor has been dealing with an ethics scandal.
4. And police in Southern California say cardboard left in recycling bin is a major target for thief. People are (apparently) taking the cardboard and selling it, because it's cheaper than recycled material.
