FIFA president Sepp Blatter says he will resign from soccer's (governing) body amid a widening corruption scandal and has promised to call for fresh elections to choose a successor. Blatter was reelected to a 5th term on Friday, 2 days after a (corruption) crisis erupted and 7 soccer officials were arrested.
Divers continue to search for survivors of an (overturned) cruise ship on China's Yangtze River. More than 400 people are still missing. The ship's (captain) and chief engineer were among the few rescued.
A man who was under surveillance by the FBI's joint terrorism task forces was fatally shot Tuesday by police in Boston after (authorities) say he lunged them with a knife. Police say the inccident occurred in the early morning hours outside a pharmacy after the man in his mid-twenties refused to drop the weapon.
And footage released by the Galapagos National Park shows (spectacular) images of lava flowing into the ocean from the Wolf Volcano after erupting last week for the first time in 33 years.
