1. Authorities in central Texas say more rain could (hamper) the effort to search for 8 people who went missing during the storms and flooding of recent days. More rain is expected Thursday night and it could shift debris fields and complicate (efforts) to find entangled victims.
2. President Barack Obama says the deadly flooding in Texas is a reminder that it is never too early to prepare for natural disasters. Obama commented while (receiving) his annual hurricane briefing during his first visit to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.
3. Former NY governor George Pataki (announced) his candidacy for president Thursday first on Youtube then at an event in New Hampshire. The 9/11-era governor served three terms in his Democratic state.
4. And this little guy was born at the Prague Zoo Thursday. The tapir is the fifth born at the zoo. He’ll lose his (stripes) after about two months.
