Tensions are running high after Turkey shot down a Russian plane that it said ignored repeated warnings after (crossing) into its aerospace from Syria. Russian president Vladimir Putin is now warning against, quote, significant consequesces.
President Barack Obama met with French (counterpart), Francois Hollande in Washington today, promising the West will triumph in the global fight against ISIS. Following news of the downed plane, he called Russia a outlier in the fight, saying Turkey had a right to defend itself.
In Minnesota, protesters remain (camped) outside a Minneapolis police precinct where they have been conducting a sit-in since the fatal shooting of a black man by a police officer on November 15th. Overnight, 5 protesters were shot nearby. Police have arrested 2 suspects.
And safety hazards putting a damper on holiday (shopping) after a report found certain toys on store shelves violated federal safety standards.
