1. Pope Francis drew hundreds of thousands of Catholics to his mass in Mexico on Sunday. The mass was expected to be the biggest of the Pope's 5 days trip to the country.
2. President Barack Obama says he plans to (fulfill) his constitutional responsibility to nominate a successor to fill the vacancy in the supreme court, following the death of senator Justin Antonin Scalia. Obama gave a televise address Saturday night, (acknowledging) Scalia's death. Some republican senator's leaders say the decision to nominate his successor should wait until the next president.
3. Heavy fighting continues across Syria in the rebel-held suburbs near Damascus on Sunday. Opposition activists reported army helicopters (dropped) barrel bombs in the area over the weekend.
4. About 10 thousands skiers in Russia took parts in a nationwide Ski competition on Sunday. The annual event has no (restrictions) on who can ski. Competitors ranged the age from 4 to  99.
