1. An army veteran killed by Dallas police after the sniper slaying 5 policemen said he wanted to kill white officers and that he acted alone. The shooting (happened) during a protest in response to the slaying of two black men by police earlier this week. Both were videotaped and widely distributed online.
2. President Barack Obama said that Americans were "Horrified" over the events in Dallas and those (responsible) will be held "Fully Accountable". He spoke from Warsaw where he was holding talks with NATO and European Union leaders.
3. And an attack in a Shiite shrine north of Baghdad killed 37 people overnight Thursday, with 62 people wounded. Civilians have (gathered) inside the Shrine to celebrate the end of Ramadan. The attack comes less than a week after a truck bombing in the capital that killed at least 186 people. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for both.
4. The barbershop harmony society's (international) convention is underway in Nashville. And thousands of singers have descended on the city for the Acappella Musical Competition dating back to 1939.
