1. The mayor of Flint, Michigan blasted state officials on Wednesday for not doing enough in a contaminated water crisis that caught the (attention) of the nation. Meanwhile, president Obama visited Detroit, where he addressed the crisis. Obama has declared a federal emergency in Flint.
2. Another plunge in the price of crude oil (slammed) the U.S stocks on Wednesday, bringing the market to its lowest level in nearly 2 years. The Dow Jones Average fell 249 points at closing, after being down 565 points earlier in the day.
3. Taliban militants stormed a university in (northwestern) Pakistan, killing at least 20 people, and triggering a hours-long battle with security forces.
4. 2015 was labelled the hottest year on record. Scientists are blaming man-made global warming with the (boost) from El Nino. It was the 4th time in 11 years that the earth broke the annual marks for high temperature.
